January 17: Some Talking Rock roads have been treated with salt but with temps expected to stay in the 20's today, there may not be much melting. Roads that have been salted: Adair, Stirratt, Foxhound down to Carman Way.

Maintenance is currently regrouping and will head towards Big Ridge.

At this time, we don't have reports on roads outside our community. Just a reminder: even though Talking Rock roads are salted, they may still be icy, unsafe and not drivable.

Message regarding Gordon County Roads:  Gordon County Emergency Management Agency

Emergency management is working closely with all public safety and public works departments during this winter weather event as conditions continue to deteriorate.

According to Gordon County Sheriff Mitch Ralston, all roads within Gordon County have become affected by the precipitation and cold temperatures. Roads are becoming very slick and covered in ice with much of this being black ice which cannot be seen creating a very dangerous situation.

Public safety personnel are asking everyone to stay at home and off the roads if at all possible. Temperatures will continue to drop overnight and are not expected to be above freezing until Thursday so dangerous travel could continue until that time.

Deputies, officers, fire personnel, EMS, EMA and public works will continue to monitor and work this event until conditions improve. Once again, please, for your safety and to assist your public safety and public works personnel stay at home and stay safe.
