We have had an unusually warm winter so far this year, and this means our bear population has remained more active than we would expect. We should pay particular attention to keeping a bear proof environment around our homes. This means making sure your garbage is secured until it is taken to one of the central collection areas. Any bird feeders and bird seed storage containers should be secure and bear proof. We are planning on having someone from the Department of Natural Resources give us a tutorial on co-existing with our bears peacefully in April. Until then please keep an eye out for our furry neighbors, and we will keep making post that offer tips on this matter until we have a definite date.  Be sure to call the office if you happen to have a bear encounter, we can then let the rest of our members know there is activity.
